Inspiration from the Director of Sin by Silence

“I am just one person, who had a dream to try to make things right in this world. Yet, it is because of ALL OF YOU that, together, we can say we truly made a difference. The passing of the Sin by Silence Bills is going to change the lives of over 7,000 domestic violence survivors who have spent far too many years behind bars.

Years ago, my grandmother sent me a quote she cut out of a magazine. Since then, I have always carried it in my wallet as a way to keep me moving forward on this journey to help the women of Sin by Silence finally be free. Now that the Sin by Silence Bills have officially become laws, this quote sums up the last decade of work to get to where we are today – “Your whole life comes alive when you have the courage to follow your dream, to create change and to do what is right over what is easy.”

I had no idea what change I would end up creating through the film, but I knew I couldn’t give up hope! Now, I have all of you to give thanks to – thank you for believing in the message of Sin by Silence. Thank you for breaking your silence and speaking up against what is wrong in this world. Thank you for being a part of this long journey that has now made legislative history in California, and what we soon hope to be the rest of the country.”
